We moved to our new house last year and we had this empty spot in our foyer where we could put an artwork. Since we got a very beautifully carved Sacred Heart from our vacation to the Philippines, we figured that it was the perfect spot for it to be enthroned.
This is how it looked like the first time we place it on the empty spot.
It was a little too plain and after contemplating, we decided to put a tile background for it.
Materials:
Tile of Preference (we used Mosaic Tiles)
MusselBound Adhesive Tile Mat
DuPont Stone Premium Sealer
Caulk
Sprayer Bottle
Small paintbrush

How I Made it
Materials Preparation
1. Clean and measure the area where you will put the Mosaic tiles
2. Measure the tiles that you will use and cut them accordingly using a wet tile saw.
Tip: If you don't have a wet tile saw just like me; you can bring the tiles to your local hardware store such as Lowe's or Home Depot and they will cut it for you.
3. Put the Stone Sealer on a Sprayer Bottle and spray on the tiles. I did three coatings and waited 24 hours to completely dry.
4. Measure and cut the Musselbound Adhesive Tile Mat according to the area size where the tiles will be placed. Initially, I planned on using the ready mixed adhesive but I figured, it would be easier for me to handle the adhesive tile mat.
Mounting the Tiles
1. Stick the MusselBound Adhesive on the measured area.
2. The Mosaic tiles we used have small pieces and they easily come off the mesh that is holding it. I have to carefully put it up on the wall and whenever the pieces come out, i just fill in the blank space.
3. After putting up all the tiles, I put caulk on all the four sides of the frame and in between the visible spaces of the tiles.
4. Let it dry for 24-48 hours.
5. Reseal it using a brush.
